From personal struggle to shared solace
Jarae Fulton, founder of Still Point Mindfulness, was inspired to create her practice through a deeply personal journey. As a university professor, she was given the opportunity to become certified in teaching mindfulness through a grant and collaborative teaching initiative. As part of the certification process, she committed to practicing mindfulness for 20 minutes each day over the course of a month.
In the beginning, the practice felt unfamiliar and even frustrating, often leaving her wondering about its purpose. Yet within a few weeks, something began to shift. What started as a requirement gradually became a life-changing experience.
For more than two decades, Jarae had navigated anxiety and depressive disorders. While she had been sober for seven years and actively engaged in a strong 12-step recovery program, she still found it difficult to fully move beyond persistent mental challenges. Mindfulness became a turning point—offering a pathway to greater peace, clarity, and freedom through present-moment awareness and intentional practice.
Alongside these benefits came an unexpected and meaningful gift: a deeper, more intimate connection with God.
As Jarae witnessed the transformative impact of mindfulness in her own life—and in the lives of those around her—she felt a clear calling to share this work more widely. Still Point Mindfulness was created as a space to support others in cultivating peace, presence, and lasting inner change.
